Day 11 : Daily Workout
Girl Power
My Topics so far have been fairly light and not too serious but this is something that has truly been getting to me lately and I believe its an important topic to cover. Lately there has been so much talk of "bullying" especially over the internet. I never truly realized how much it actually happens. One of the worst parts is that girls are the main ones doing the bullying! To other girls! Am I the only person who is shocked by this? Through time, before internet bullying became an issue, when you would hear the word "bully" you would think of big guys shoving smaller guys into lockers and taking their lunch money. In 2013, It is girls telling other girls such horrible negative things. I did some research just through my Instagram feed to see what I would find by looking through the comments. I actually saw a girl tell another girl she should KILL HERSELF! I was shocked! I could not believe what I was reading. One of the posts I looked at last night restored my hope in women and made me want to make it a part of my life to actively change the way girls treat other girls. I saw this young girls comment on a models picture on Instagram saying something along the lines of " Why am I so ugly? I wish I was pretty like you" This girl is THIRTEEN. It broke my heart thinking of who put that in her mind that she was not beautiful, which she is completely stunning might I add! As I scrolled down through the comments after the young girls post I was so happy with what I saw. A few girls commented to her, they wrote her a paragraph long comment. They told her how absolutely beautiful she is and how they were her age and felt the same way until they decided that they were not going to let other people bring them down and that is when they realized how beautiful they truly were. They gave her so much love and support and encouragement. I had to step in. I told the girls who wrote those nice comments how amazed and thankful I was that there are women in the world who provide positivity to people. The young girl commented back and said how amazing it felt to hear those words from the girls and how it completely changed her mind in how she views herself and thanked them over and over for what they had said to her. It made me so happy. We need to change the way we as women act toward other women. We need to be encouraging and lift others when they are down. We need to stick together and help each other get through our troubles. If I ever get the chance to start a charity, this is what I will be. I want to help women encourage other women! I want to stop the hate and bullying! Be happy and let others do the same! We all have bad days but by being kind and encouraging, not only will you brighten their day but you will brighten yours as well.
