Happy, Healthy Holidays :
Fitness
Staying healthy during the holiday months seems almost impossible, but it isn't! I know you wont think that when you are staring at that last piece of pumpkin pie in the middle of the table and you keep telling yourself "no, I have already had one.. I don't need another!" But then find yourself casually looking around checking to see if anyone is looking at you staring at it. Believe it or not, there are ways to be able to splurge and eat that second piece of pie and not do any harm. First of all, many people assume that to keep at a good weight or even loose weight, that you have to work out all the time. This is not true. Though if you would like to then more power to you! Exercising and Eating Right is different for every one, all bodies are different and progress at different rates. An exercise that may work fast for you may not work for someone else and the same with what you eat. On average, Accord to Thats Fit, If you are trying to loose weight, you should be exercising about 200-250 minutes a week( 40-50 minutes, 5 days a week). If you are trying to maintain your weight then exercise 150-200 minutes a week (40-50 minute, 4 days a week or 30-40 minutes, 5 days a week). Your fitness level all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. During the holidays, a great way to stay in shape but still be able to enjoy your time is by maybe cutting back on the exercising to 3-4 days a week when you feel like you need extra time to be with family. If you do not feel like cutting back, then maybe workout first thing in the morning while others are still asleep. Working out in the morning seems like a horrible idea, until after you get done with it. Working out in the morning is a great way to start the day. It makes you feel accomplished and ready to bring on the day! What you shouldnt do during the holidays, is cut out exercising all together. As you are working out, think of the last time you have ever regretted working out! People, especially women, often think of hard workouts at the gym when they think of exercising. There are many other ways of getting your fitness fix then going to the gym five days a week. I incorporate my exercise into daily activities. On of my favorites, that does more for your body then you might think is walking/jogging. No cold weather excuses! A great way to continue walking in these cold winter months is by grabbing a girlfriend and heading to the mall before stores open! Many people do it and its a great chance to do some window shopping before the rush happens! Once the mall opens, you could sit down at Starbucks for one of their healthy breakfast sandwiches and coffee! The Ultimate Girls Morning! Another way of getting in your exercise in the comfort of your home is by doing a few of these yoga mat friendly workouts(with the exception of the Minka Kelly Treadmill Workout). All of these workouts take 30 minutes or less leaving plenty of time for a 10 minute cool down session to finish of your workout. Enjoy!
