Back To Basics :
Foundation
Applying Face Makeup is the most important step in your makeup routine. Surprisingly this is the step most women have trouble with. There are so many factors that go into your Face Makeup such as, Foundation Color, Foundation Consistency, whether you have oily or normal to dry skin, whether you want full, medium or light coverage, and much more. If you have great eye makeup but you have blotchy red skin and orange foundation, no one will notice the eyeshadow! I hope this post will make it a little bit easier to understand! Your face makeup is the base of your makeup, it needs to be flawless and perfect.
Prime Time
When I see a girls makeup collection, probably 8 times out 10 there is one main product missing. It is also one of the most important, Primer! A Primer is worn under your foundation to help smooth your skin and fill in fine lines creating a flawless base for your foundation. By not using a primer, your foundation may look splotchy and uneven. I highly recommend purchasing a primer. That foundation you once hated because it wasn't smooth probably wasn't the problem! It might have been an amazing foundation but you did not prime your skin! It will completely change the way your foundation looks!
Find Your Match
Finding the right color match for your skin can be very difficult. Especially when purchasing a drugstore brand as opposed to a high end brand where you can usually try it out. Some people find it very easy because they have a pretty workable skin tone, you girls are lucky! I usually have a difficult time finding a color that truly works with my tone. A rule of thumb to go by when matching your shade is to focus on the color of the back of your hand, not your face. If you are using SPF (which you should be!) your face is most likely a lighter shade than your body. You want your skin to be all one consistent color so there are no harsh edges. If you have a hard skin tone to match, and trying to find your right foundation shade, I would purchase a light and a darker color to mix together yourself to find out which shade mixture fits you best so that way you know which color to look for when you buy a new foundation.
Perfectly Pressed Powder
Powder is a make or break moment for your makeup! If you don't use a powder, you probably just found the reason your makeup does not last all day! By applying a powder, whether it is translucent or colored, you are "setting" your makeup! This is a very permanent step in your makeup routine. Powder should be apply after you put anything on your face. After Foundation, Concealer, Blush, Bronzer, everything! It will lock your makeup in place and leave you with a flawless long lasting finish.
Crazy About Concealer
If I was on a desert island and could only have three items they would be BB Cream, Mascara, and of course, concealer. This step is a huge part of your makeup. Have you ever seen a woman who has amazing foundation and eye makeup but horrible under eye circles and blemishes?! Don't be that girl! Conceal every imperfection! Lately I have been a big fan of the "Kim Kardashian Concealer Trick". By dabbing a light shade of concealer under your eyes in a downward triangle towards the bottom sides of your nose and blending it out, you create a lifting affect making you look more awake and energized. It is great to invest in a light and darker concealer so you have two to choose from depending on where they are place on your face. There are also some crazy colors of concealer that seem useless but actually do a lot! The Green colored concealers are used to cover up red blemishes or spots. The Yellow based concealers are used to conceal bluish tones such as veins under and on your eyelid. Don't be scared of them! By blending them out you won't be able to see the color! Or the imperfections that were once there!
